Federica Pasquotto (Amsterdam): Linking subsets producing critical points
Abstract:
A variety of theorems in critical point theory is based on the
existence of linking subsets, separated by a level set. A toy model for
this kind of results is the so called Mountain Pass lemma.
In this talk we will give an overview of the different notions of
linking and related minimax constructions. In particular, we will
discuss homological linking, as first introduced by Benci, and some
more recent generalizations of it, specializing to the case of subsets
of an infinite dimensional Hilbert space.
