It has been observed in many applications that coupling stochastic systems 
can make their dynamics more reliable, and that networks of stochastic 
elements can become synchronous. We will analyze some model problems of 
this type and describe mechanisms which produce reliable and synchronous 
behavior.  We will further show that these effects are present in 
parameter regimes which are appropriate for the underlying applications.
