Uniqueness of ground states for short-range spin glasses
Spin glasses are systems of spins where the interactions between them
are random. Such systems typically have a complex behavior at low
temperatures where many states of low energies could exist.
Determining these states and describing them is a hard
problem at the boundaries of physics, probability and computer
science. I will talk about the challenges when addressing these
questions and present a recent result on the uniqueness of
the ground state for the Edwards-Anderson spin glass model in the half-
plane. This is joint work with M. Damron, C. Nemwan and D. Stein.
