Title: Algorithms and Modeling for Successful Imaging of Shear Stiffness in Tissue: The goal is a new medical diagnostic tool. The doctors' palpation exam has inspired a collection of inventive experiments that enable imaging of shear stiffness in tissue, the tissue property that, for centuries, doctors have felt in order to make diagnoses. In this talk, three of these experiments, as well as the rich data subsets that are produced, will be described. A succession of algorithms will be presented along with the image improvements and analysis results. Applications include breast and prostate cancer. Current experimentalists with whom we collaborate are: Dr. Richard Ehman, Mayo Clinic; Mathias Fink, ESPCI, Paris; and Dr. Kevin Parker at the University of Rochester.
