Bio

In addition to being an Adjunct Professor at NYU Courant, Hubertus is a Distinguished Research Staff Member at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY, since 1993. He leads/lead a variety of research projects spanning Cloud Systems, Enterprise System Integration into Cloud, Operating Systems and Systems Architectures, High Performance Computing, Linux kernel, Performance, and Systems on a Chip. He has been awarded multiple IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards.

He the author/co-author of 137 publications and has been granted 171 patents. He is a member of the IBM Academy of Technology, an IBM Master Inventor and an ACM Fellow.

He holds a Ph.D and a M.Sc. in EE from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN (1992) and a M.Sc. in CS from the Technical University of Karlsruhe, Germany (1987). During his studies he focused on robotics, compiler construction and software engineering. Since graduation he mainly focused on systems architecture, operating systems and cloud.
