Textbook: Introduction to the Practice of Statistics by David S. Moore, George P. McCabe.

Contents: Chapters 1-11 of the textbook (if time permits, Chapter 12).


Quizzes

There will be 4 quizzes for this course. The quizzes will be given during the labs. Students can choose to take the quiz during the 9:00am-10:00am lab or the 10:00am-11:00am lab). The lowest quiz score will be dropped.

  • Quiz 1 (Solution): Friday, July 6. The quiz will cover materials from chapters 1 and 2. Please bring a calculator.

  • Quiz 2 (Solution): Wednesday, July 18. The quiz will cover materials from chapters 3, 4, and the material on counting methods. Please bring a calculator.

  • Quiz 3 (Solution): Monday, July 30. The quiz will cover materials from chapter 6. Please bring a calculator.

  • Quiz 4 (Solution): Friday, August 10. The quiz will cover materials from chapters 7 and 8.


Midterm Exam

There will be one midterm. The midterm will be given on Monday, July 23. The midterm will be given during class from 2:10pm-4:00pm. There will not be a make-up midterm.

The midterm will cover materials from chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, as well as the material on counting methods. Please bring a calculator.


Final Exam

The date of the final is Friday, August 17. The final will be given during class from 2:10pm-4:00pm. There will not be a make-up final.

The final exam will be comprehensive, but the exam will focus primarily on material from chapters 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Please bring a calculator.

Students are allowed to bring one sheet (front and back) of hand-written formulas and/or notes to use during the final exam. Formulas will not be provided by the instructor for the final exam. Probability distribution tables for the Normal, t, Chi-squared etc. will be provided.
