Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD)
I have
shown that large-scale magnetic fields in small-scale,
two-dimensional, isotropic
turbulence do exhibit a diffusive behavior on the turbulent
time scale of the flow; and in three dimensions, there is a
non-zero turbulent alpha-effect, which is the transport
coefficient governing the generation of large-scale magnetic
fields (from homogeneous, helical turbulence). However,
these transport coefficients are drastically reduced even
for fields much weaker than equipartition.
